theme of mitt romney's foreign policy policy? >> well, i think what's fascinating about this speech, charlie, is that mitt romney has identified some of the weakest points in the obama approach to the world. and one of the weak zest that many who have been involved in the revolutions in the arab world wonder where america is. i think that the other side of the speech, on which it was weaker, is that he has not identified terribly well what he would do differently. from those clips you had a few points we can raise. he said that the syrians should be armed but he stopped short of saying that we should arm the syrians. in fact, that hasn't been the position he's taken. he has said that iran should be convinced by america's actions not its words that the u.s. is serious about keeping it from getting a nuclear weapon and he said, importantly, a nuclear weapons capability, that's a difference from president obama. >> rose: right. >> but he never mentioned those many things that president obama has done that i think the iranians are feeling. one of them is the strongest sanction it is u.s

the most quotable line from the romney speech is hope is not a strategy talking about the middle east. you used the words leading from behind. mitt romney used it at least once in the speech. the speech was an attempt to say, this is what barack obama has done. here is what i would do. it was tonal more than specific. it was more we need to be bigger, more aggressive whether it's iran or another syria. it was broadly philosophically we need a stronger, more muscular approach. >> on several points he's critical on iran because he would have opposed the initial attempt to open up towards iran and thinks the president didn't go far enough at all in supporting the green revolution of students in iran in june of 2009. the response from the obama team is that the iranian leaders, the reform leaders, student revolutionaries were saying, don't be too overt. it will have a backlash effect. that can be e debated. on sanctions they are criticizing the failure to go tougher though the president arguably did better than george bush in getting russia and china to permit tougher sanctions. they are

what they are really like and home. ann romney gave a speech early on when mitt romney was running in the republican primaries. she was talking about he was on the road a lot. she developed ms. she said i have these seven boys and she said she was talking to him and telling him i don't think i can do this alone, this is really hard being here all alone. he told her, well, your job is way more important than mine and i know you can do it. i thought that was an interesting comment. i thought, does that mean he left her there along with those boys when she said she could barely get out a bet? to me, that indicated something i was thinking, that his instincts seem to fail him in moments when you really need someone to make a decision. instincts tend to help him when he tends to make a critical decision, like when he went after bin laden or when he decided to save detroit. a couple comments --: romney has five sons and michelle obama actually went to harvard. our next caller now. caller: i just wanted to say that the spouses of the political candidates really don't affect my decision, s
